Historical Summary of the "Sociedad Lírica Complutense" Choir |

The Sociedad Lírica Complutense Choir is based in the beautiful university city of Alcalá de Henares (the roman Complutum) in Madrid-SPAIN, place where Miguel de Cervantes was born in 1547 and, since 1998, holds the title of World Heritage Sites, given by Unesco. Since its foundation in 1988, the choir has performed about 250 concerts, covering different musical genres: opera, zarzuela (spanish operetta), symphonic chorales, sacred music, etc. Among the most important of those offered in recent years include: 2005 June 4th LONDON, Church of Our Lady of Dolours, invited by the Spanish Embassy in the United Kingdom. July 9th SAN LORENZO DE EL ESCORIAL, Basilica of the Royal Monastery October 8th ALCALÁ DE HENARES, Cervantes Theater, which featured Mario Gosálvez's symphonic-choral poem "Clavileño", commissioned by Alcalá de Henares City Council to commemorate the fourth centenary of the release of "Don Quixote". Sra. del Carmen ALCALÁ DE HENARES, Cathedral-Magistral: premiere program monograph "Haendel Forever" dedicated to the great German-British composer. 2008 March, 8th ALCALÁ DE HENARES, Cathedral-Magistral: premiere program "Music in Times of Passion", with works by Bach and Rheinberger March, 14th ZARAGOZA
, Church of St. Pablo Apóstol ALCALÁ DE HENARES, Cathedral-Magistral: the choir performed the "Gloria" by Antonio Vivaldi as the opening concert for the Second International Organ Festival "City of Alcalá," with Liudmila Matsyura (organist). June, 7th ROME, Pontificio Collegio Spagnolo di San José. Presently, the Sociedad Lírica Complutense Choir has committed for this year concerts Seville (October) and Madrid (December). Its latest works presented to the public have been the Requiem by Mozart, the Requiem by Fauré, Gloria by Vivaldi, Te Deum by Bizet, "Clavileño" by M. Gosálvez, Krönungsmesse (Coronation Mass) by Mozart, the opera "Orfeo ed Euridice" by C.W. Gluck, the monograph "Haendel Forever" and the program of sacred music named "Music in Times of Passion", always being well received by critics and public.
